Web 2.0 Video Reflection

If I had to guess what "Web 2.0" was supposed to mean, I think it is referring to the new and improved Internet. I think the purpose of the video is to show how resourceful the Internet can be and how useful it is in keeping us not only informed but also connected to one another and makes communication faster and more efficient. Knowing and utilizing all the amenities the web has to offer is very important in the business world today. Those entering the work force really should be used to the web and be able to use it. Communication and quick formatting tools shown on the video are a few tips to encourage those entering a field to learn how these are used. You as a business worker can make more of a difference and appear more professional if you properly use the web. This is also why those who are already in the work force should keep up on this new technology. Things are improving everyday and change is inevitable. Older generations did not have these helping tools, but now that we do, why not put them to use? Now we can reach many all of the world with a simple click of a mouse. We have also formatted documents in a quick way to show how it is formatted and to highlight content. In order to be on the same page as your business it is key to be web savvy.

At the end of the video is stated that "web 2.0" requires us to rethink everything. I agree completely because the web does not just affect individual businesses. As it stated before we control the machine when we upload pictures or even create Facebook accounts etc. This requires us to pay attention to privacy a lot more. If we have important information online we must guard it more intently because people are learning more about the Internet. The quality of our communication is compromised as well. We also must rethink how it affects our community, our families etc. The web has connected us, but also has to be looked at with caution in my opinion. It is useful and is educational, but it has changed our schools and the research we pursue. Now books are almost becoming a thing of the past. Our methods of learning and communication are changed. I hope we don't completely rethink and devalue human interaction. That is my biggest concern.

About Me

My name is Kate and this is my Junior year at Clemson. I am an Elementary Education major. I am from a small town in Maryland called Poolesville, so the drive down to Clemson is not a fun one, but it's worth it. I have one older sister back home. I also have a huge dog named Rascal who is the fattest and fluffiest thing you will ever see. He is a Norwegian Elk hound and he is spoiled rotten. In my spare time I love to play volleyball, I'm looking forward to intramurals this year. I also love to bake whenever I get the chance. So, those are some random facts about my life...The end:)
